One of our favorite design house, Chloe, will present its latest SS12 presentation via livestream. This will be new designer Clare Waight Keller's debut collection.

For those who doesn't know much about Keller, she is the former designer of Pringle of Scotland responsible for revamping the Scottish design house and bring it back to proper sartorial standing. It will be interesting to see what she does for Chloe, given she has done stints with Tom Ford (Hello Sexy!) and Ralph Lauren. She takes over the design post from Hannah McGibbon, who left the house in June.

Fashion Week: Nanette Lepore (Video)

What: pops of color in citrus yellow opened the show. This is a bright collection with a lot of youth and fresh energy.

Take away: color is here to stay this season, as in Ms. Lepore sent down the runway a yummy array of neons and shebert palettes. Each one of her creation is so bright one will be able to see a Nanette Lepore girl a mile away (doesn't hurt either to show off a little tanned skin). If one wonders if she is still worried about keeping her business mainstay in NYC's garment district, this collection seems to be perfect anecdote of that pessimism.

What we love: her bright colors, and her spirit to stay optimistic. We wish her well in getting what she wants!

Fashion Week: Michael Kors (Video)

What: African safari luxe to the sportswear Michael Kors does so well.

Take away: on the occasion of his 30th anniversary, it is as though Mr. Kors has touched on his wild side and sent down a collection that reminds us of African travel. It is a sophisticated take on the Safarian look - elegant in linen, luxe in crochet, and above all very wearable pieces. The collection exudes a certain optimism that probably reflects the designer's well being as of late - that he is at a very good stage of his life right now.

What we love: the maillots, a one-shoulder caftan in crochet, and the safari jackets. In fact, it's hard to pick something we loved since the whole collection is executed so well. Well done!

Fashion Week: Betsey Johnson

What: pin-up meets Burlesque.

Take away: you know you are in a Betsey Johnson show when girls show up in pom-pom dresses. Youthful and fun, the collection juxtaposes innocence and sexy, often in the same outfit. A far cry from the prom dresses she's known for, this is a sexy girl that is fearless.

What we love: the floral prints, and a skull and bone swimsuit malliot. Now Betsey please do that cartwheel!

Fashion Week: Norman Ambrose (Video)

What: gold gold gold, like disco going back to Studio 54.

Take away: society mavens may fair well in this collection, which features shiny tailored suits and sheath dresses. The use of brocade and gold, silver pave are great for summer cocktails and evenings. A lovely print chiffon caftan reminds us of summer parties in the Hamptons.

What we love: the print chiffon caftan, a turquoise embroidered top, and a floral print chiffon dress.

What: Marie-Antoinette meets milk maid a la petite Trainon style.

Take away: lots of white with embroidered silk and laces. The collection can be easily confused with vintage due to the laces and ruffles. There is a factor of cuteness and youth expressed in the playful ruffles. However if you are looking for modern RTW look
elsewhere.

What we love: The Misshapes DJ-ed the music. Beats going to Don Hill on a crowded Friday night.

Fashion Week: DVF

What: A departure from her signature prints, DVF opened the show with white sheer separates and color blocking. But she came back to her true roots with lovely prints - some geometric, other times floral - in shiny sheaths and trapeze dresses. It is a lovely collection that's young and fresh.

Take away: While the beginning reminds us of Alexander Wang's SS12 (with the white sheer separates and see-through pockets), the show progressively warms up to color and eventually to bright prints which is signature of DVF. The color-blocking separates remind us of Derek Lam's creations - good mix of palettes and very wearable shapes that's reminiscent of 1980s working girls (and we LOVE those clutches in matching colors!). At the end though, the shiny sheath dresses remind us of the 1960s Jackie O with a bit of a flower-child mixed in. In terms of cohesiveness this collection does seem to span through five decades of fashion with different points of references. But DVF picked all the best point of views within those decades and expand on them, making her collection all the more fresh and modern.

What we love: Her finale - she took her "bow" by handing out American flags to a selected few at the front-row. Very patriotic considering today's the 10th year anniversary of 9/11. In terms of fashion, we pick the very wearable color-blocking separates and a red and white printed jumpsuit just for the fun of it!

Fashion Week: DVF (Pre-show live blogging!)

What: an inside look at one of the hottest show during fashion week. Live-blogging begins!

3:50 p.m.: Time to check in with the Gods/Goddesses of KCD PR. Time is of essence.

4:05 p.m.: Double air-kisses are the norm this season. Wow just spotted Valentino Giancarlo - in person!! Also, Oscar de la Renta is in the front-row. DVF being the CFDA President certainly has clout. There's no better peer support than to show up to another designer's own fashion show.

4:08 p.m.: Interactive Corp's chairman Barry Diller (aka DVF's husband) now greeting guests. Bill Cunningham from the New York Times is also here. This is growing to be quite a re-union of sorts.

4:10 p.m.: Hamish Bowles, Suzy Menkes now taking turns to talk to Mr. Valentino Giancarlo, Mr. de la Renta.

4:17 p.m.: Just had my first Anna Dello Russo sighting.

4:24 p.m.: Bill Cunningham snapping pictures at front-rowers. It's amazing to see him working at this age, still so passionate about the job he does.

4:27 p.m.: Susan Sarandon, good friend of DVF, now sits in between Mr. de la Renta and Mr. Diller.

4:28 p.m.: Anna Wintour, looking every bit lovely in her big sunglasses, is chatting up with Stefano Tonchi.

4:29 p.m.: Show Starts!

Fashion Week: Katya Leonovich

What: Space age clothes with a comic, pop feel.

Take away: while the clothes have a distinct point of view that don't necessarily appeal to the masses, overall the collection is perfectly executed with clean lines and exquisite details. A denim dress shows cut off at the right places. A pom pom dress in ethereal chiffon flows instead buking up with too much fabric. One can see the details poured into each garment, which is something to be applauded.

What we love: a spider-web sleeve gown in blue silk print, a one-shoulder leather dress with long fringe hems.

Fashion Week: Vivienne Tam

What: restrained patterns, great lines, and the east meets west aesthetic which Ms. Tam does the best.

Take away: this is a restrained collection with careful use of color and patterns. While some dresses bear some of the designer's appliques and knotting techniques, overall one feel these embellishments are used sparingly. Tailoring is executed beautifully with great lines. The finale gowns shown at the end culminates to some drama of the show.

What we love: a bright red pantsuit, a white fringe dress in long sleeves, and a printed floral gown with wide, flowing sleeves. We all need a little drama in our lives!

What: The theme of Nicole Miller's SS12 show is called "Fast Forward/Rewind." The collection literally takes us back in time - from 1978 to the early 90s. Remember, great fashion has spanned during this trip down memory lane.

Take away: You don't get more "club" than this when you have Richie Rich sitting in the front row. This is a collection about the nostalgia of the disco and club scenes, and it is certainly fun and youthful. Bright patterns bring a certain "street" aesthetic to the collection. The use of silk and flowing silhouettes makes the clothes modern.

What we love: the collection's distinct point of view, the energy and freshness coming from having fun.

What: Could this collection be inspired particularly by Georgia O'Keefe's work? With lots of floral prints and the designers signature draping, this is yet again another breathtaking collection.

Take away: Airdye floral prints - a new method of garment dyeing that bypass water and utilize more green technology - are the strong focus this season, in addition to the signature draping on everything from tops to dresses. We are thrilled to see the use of moss greens and mauve for spring - colors typically reserved for fall. When they are paired with the delicate floral prints they become fresh again - perfect for
spring.

What we love: Everything! Down to the floral printed matching leggings. Keep up the good work!

What: Nurturing young design talents are in vogue these days with the formation of CFDA. This year, cotton provider Supima has partnered with FIT, The Pratt Institute, The Rhode Island School of Design, and The Savannah College of Art and Design for mentoring eight designers chosen by each school. The race requires each designer to create capsule collections using Supima cotton. The designs will be judged on originality, execution, and reinvention.

Take away: with Saks' Steve Sadove in the audience and judged by a panel of insiders including Rachel Zoe, this is a one in a lifetime opportunity for the young designers graduating into a world where unemployment rate holds a steady 9.1 percent.

What we love: RISD's Connie Weng is our top pick for beautiful prints and silhouettes. (Photo: Top 2)

What: Sporty feminine day wear in subdue palettes.

Take away: Why can't one pair a romantic white sheer dresses with asymmetrical hems with a matching parka? Altuzura did it for AW11, so did Nicholas K here for spring. The clothes exudes an easy elegance that flow with the body. It is modern day wear for a modern woman on the go.

What we love: the parkas in trapeze silhouettes, jerseys and tees that drape to the body with a hood. And look at those colors that resemble the sky at dusk!

Fashion Week: Hyden Yoo

What: 1920's romantic neocolonialism. Easy separates that channel a bit of the John Fitzgerald flair.

Take away: Yoo, inspired by the Oscar nominated film L'amant, created a collection that draws inspiration from "the romantic affiliation between an expat and a native," or so say the press release. What that means are clothes made of light fabrics that are great for travel and yet exudes a sense of relaxed elegance: a great trench coat transformed into a cape, white floor-length skirts paired with an easy knit, jackets thst are cropped and thrown-on.

What we love: The sense of easy elegance with a laissez-faire attitude.

This year, we are doing things a bit differently: instead of telling you what you need, we are sharing with you what we WANT when the temperature drops. Let's face it, there's nothing you really NEED in fashion when the Dow is going down the tubes. However, we can all use a little fantasy once in a while. Besides, wanting something is so much more fun than needing something!

As the temperature rises, summer brings along a dilemma most women are confronted this season - what to bring for my summer vacation? In an attempt to answer this question (and also delves into one's personal closet - who doesn't love to see what others pack?), the Fashionable Matilda is sharing her summer vacation wardrobe with her lucky readers. Take notes and bring on the sunblock!

Where: being a New York blog, the Hamptons, mais bien-sur!

What I packed:
1) Sexy one-piece swimsuits from Gap, BCBG and Pucci.
2) Tom Ford sunglasses (Nicole and Nikita - the Cat's Eyes are back!) for ALWAYS. You just don't take off your sunglasses period.

*Note: Yes I am inspired by this look Claudia Schiffer so effortlessly pulled-off in last month's UK Harper's Bazaar.

3) Stripe linen tops and shorts from J.Crew for day.
4) White beach jacket with hood from Club Monaco for the cool nights on the beach.
5) One easy white cotton dress. (Mine from J.Crew nabbed on sale).
6) Flat sandals from K Jacques for town. Havianna flip-flops for the beach.
7) Big straw tote from Club Monaco to hold everything together.

Don't leave home without: Hamptons Sun SPF 35 sunblock and Lancome SPF 50 BB Base face cream. With the strong Hamptons Sun make sure you wear sunblock to protect yourself from harmful UV rays.

Ultimate Outfit: Less is more. Sometimes all you need to look good is a simple outfit and a carefree attitude. Mine comes in the form of a black Gap one-piece swimsuit, slick back hair tied up in a knot, a pair of big Tom Ford sunglasses and a bright pink lip (try Chanel's Rouge Allure Lip Laquer in #78, the brightest of pink).

One last accessory: Rent a SUV. When traveling on those beach roads watch out for the high tide. Sometimes the roads can get flooded!

Fashion Week: Victoria Beckham

What: Classic sheaths cut in simplistic shapes but spare no attention away from the details. (The zipper detail at the back that runs through the whole length of the dress, opening up to the right height where one would feel comfortable/sexy depending on how high or low it goes!) These are clothes that exudes elegance with a touch of chic sophistication.

Take away: Being Beckham's sixth season designing (and being pregnant with her fourth child), Beckham has certainly elevated from being "another celebrity designer" to one that really takes the fashion elite's notice. Beckham's handbag line, which was recently launched in Fall 2010 (and was sold out on net-a-porter within minutes after it was released), further cemented her stay as a fashion power house who takes on her endeavors seriously. This season, her silhouettes have more volume instead of the tight-cuts that her designer friend Roland Mourat are famous for. New additions include coats, chic separates that are cut with the same precision as the dresses and of course, the exquisitely made handbags.

Fashion Week: Max Azria

What: American classicism reinterpreted in menswear-inspired womenswear.

Take away: Colors in camel, brown, and dark-green translated into menswear tailoring. Minimalism is still a theme although the colors brings a richer undertone to the clothes, giving it a feminine feel with the warmth. The army jacket returns paired with a leather choker and long, flowing maxi dress.

What: Romantic goth meets street-chic.

Take away: Belgium designer Olivier Theysken's second collection for Theory doesn't disappoint, with sharp, tailored jackets paired with wide-legged pants and romantic long skirts. Theyskens uses more colors and patterns this season - a street plaid in red still evokes a luxe touch with flowing silhouette in the bottom. This is a smart collection with a lot of cerebral aesthetics mix in with day to day contemporary wear.

What we love: What do we NOT love from this collection? Everything from the cape-like coat to the pants to the sheer black maxi dresses scream luxe without being too overt. Perfect for the new modern, contemporary woman. And with a contemporary price point, we predict this will be another sold-out collection similar to the one Theyskens did for Spring 2011.

What we love: Sleek leather jackets, three-piece suits, leather back-packs (given to front row guests). Your man never looked so cool wearing tight-fitting clothes, lace-up boots and a back-pack!

What: clothes inspired by the Chinese opera. Tailoring is dramatic with high mandarin collar or collars that cascades down the neck.

Take away: prints that are rich with Asian influence mix with intricate appliques. Separates flow easily in easy to wear knits and flowing pants. Dresses in silk prints flow graciously down the body. Intricate appliques and crotchet throughout that gives an east meets west feel.

What we love: the tailored coats, and dresses in silk prints and appliques. The flapper cocktail dress evokes 1920s Shanghai.

Fashion Week: Prabal Gurung

What: love is the theme for the show. It opened with a show stopping red one-shoulder dresses draped romantically on Karlie Kloss. These are clothes that screams drama.

Take away: tailoring is sharp that comes in smart sheath dresses and long coats. Romantic blouses that ties at the neck are sheer with a hint of skin. Black dresses comes in a sexy sheer corset paired long
leather gloves. And there are laces too in black contrast with with wool. Ombre fur coats have returned!

What we love: the show stopping red, also the pink floral applice dress that's oh-so-sweet.

Fashion Week: Jill Stuart

What: native american theme with lots of new mexico colors, motives ( such as eagles, foxes etc). Skirt length is long and below the knee.

Take away: this is the new country attire. Why only settle for drab jeans and plaid when you can have luxurious thick knits in yummy fall colors? Accessories are Unitarian with boxed bags in brown cow leather (love the waist bag!)

What we love: a brick red leather drop waist dress, a cape vest with attached fur scarf, and the opening eagle print dress with a new length.

What: electic chic with a hint of Moraccan feel. Tunics in black with jeweled embellishment evokes easy elegance.

Take away: tops decorated with feathers. Luxury is back! Who says sequins, feathers and patterns don't go together?

Whar we love: the black chiffon maxi dresses with sequined obi- belt accents. It's evenig attire that evokes a sense of mystery.

Fashion Week: Nicole Miller

What: menswear influence with a touch of the feminine feel. Pants, slouchy or slim, are the new focal point that's dominant in this collection. Dresses are cut short and close to the body.

Take away: the new minimalism with a hint of cubism a la Picasso. This is a designer who has just launched a contemporary line into the market last year to keep in pace with a growing segment of customers who seek chic rtw day-wear with an affordable price point. This collection speaks to those same customers who want a more runway look to their outfits.

What we love: a charcoal Persian lamb vest that screams luxury. A digital print silk dress in blue evokes understated elegance.

It's that Coach? No that's Reed Krakoff

If you don't know who is Reed Krakoff, you've certainly seen his work. Coach anyone? Krakoff is the current creative director for Coach responsible for revitalizing a sleepy handbag brand into an American classic.

While he has been at the helms of Coach for years, starting at Fall 2010 he has launched his own label and opened up three flagship stores, with one currrently situated at Manhattan's Madison Avenue. That's where Krakoff's minimalistic and elegant designs caught our attention.

For Fall, we especially love Krakoff's structured boxed totes and to-die-for stillettos. These are not Coach-rehashes, but simply good, contemporary design appealing to the minimalistic aesthetic that's dominating this season.

Did we tell you Krakoff also does a fabulous RTW line? While the chunky knit-wear, shearling-jacket and long skirts pairing reminds us of Prada or Burberry Fall 2010, it is appealing to see such looks intepreted by an American designer known for designing handbags. While you're online, check out Krakoff's latest pre-fall 2011 collection.

During Fashion Week, the Fashionable Matilda was fortunate enough to be invited to a press beauty open-house sponsored by PR firm Fournier Communications. We learned two things that day: 1) That Paris is the Beauty Capital of the World, and 2) a new organic beauty line from Paris so natural and exquisite we have to share what we've learned.

Patyka Beauty isn't a brand new line. It has been relaunched this year using the same, natural organic formulas that created a fan base from its origins of its Parisian shop in the Marais District. The Fashionable Matilda is lucky enough to sit down with the designer and her business partner, Bud Konheim, to discuss the future of the apparel business and her latest venture.

FM: So I see that Nicole Miller is branching out into the contemporary market.

BK: Nicole has a European piece of mind when it comes to design. She wants design in all her pieces whereas I've been saying we need the design cross- jacket, blouse, pants and tees - things that consumers can really count on to pull the whole look together without looking too over the top while still able to have enough design to be able reach into their closets. This is a collection that bridges that gap.

FM: Where is the collection sold?

NM company: they are sold currently at specialty boutiques such as Intermix and our retail stores and on Nicolemiller.com. We really try to limit distributions to reflect the aesthetics and the retailers
that truly understands Nicole.

What we like: a silk blouse in olive green with shirring details on the sleeve, and an amazing light print black and white tunic dress. "We make all our patterns and prints in-house," Nicole Miller says.

Theme: 50s chic with a sense of 90s modernism? Anyway the looks remind us so far of the extension of the chic housewives look from fall.

What's special: the separates - blouses paired with pencil skirts, flirty short shorts and strapless maxi dresses. We love a pink skirt suit combination and the work friendly sheath dresses. This collection definitely tailors to its Upper East Side clientle.

Take away: the silky flirty shorts. Who says shorts cannot be feminine and sexy at the same time?

Fashion Week: Perry Ellis

Theme: preppy classics, coral and pastel paired with khaki bermuda shorts with keds for summer.

What's Special: kudos for bringing color and pastels to menswear. The colors are fun and cheery (no heterosexual men would wear coral though, but at least designer John Crocco has to try!)

Note: see a lot of executive, hedge fund types at the show's front row. This collection should be right up their ally in terms of Greenich preppiness!

Take away: a khaki suit that always look sharp and polish, and the striped shirts.

Wear-ability: would you pair a chambray blazer with white cotton bermudas? AND would you wear Coral? If so this is a 10 for you.

Fashion Week: Trias

Theme: Program notes "seized movement," basically that is clothes that flow and move with the body. Unlike what was described in the program, this is a structural presentation.

What's Special: Lightweight fabric such as linen, cotton, viscose paired with something grounded, such as a wooden platform pump. Vibrant colors - terracotta mixed with coral, a soft white mixed with brick red. The tone are earthy but when paired with the simplistic elegance of the design made these clothes luxe and beautiful.

Take away: the easy separates with the right shape and nip and tuck, and the beautiful white linen sheath dresses.

Note: Who is Joaquin Trias? He's a self-taught designer based in Spain, with a debut Spring collection shown at New York Fashion Week in 2009. His aesthetic mostly mixes structure and texture, with an inclination towards architectural elements. It also helps that his grandmother is muse and model for Cristobel Balenciaga!

Wear-ability: 10. Not kidding, we would wear every outfit in this collection!

Fashion Week: DVF

Theme: Nautical vacation, St. Tropez chic.

What's Special: Great easy separates with short sleeved boxy blouses mixed with flowing shorts, pants and skirts. We love the hooded all-in-one and the rounded sunglasses pairings. Color is vibrant with signature DVF prints mixed in throughout. If you want to find the perfect outfits for a fabulous vacation this is the collection for you.

Theme: Military rules, opened with olive and khaki knits. This show has a more relaxed and easy feel compared to other Eric Kim's presentations. Very befitting for a spring-summer collection.

What's Special: we still love the tailoring, especially a summer blazer cut in leather. However, we are in love with the easy, asymmetric jackets in neutral palettes and a black plaid vest. Why can't men wear vests and be casual at the same time? Love the finale deconstructed trench!

Take away: Heterosexual menswear casual doesn't need to involve Greenich CT preppiness. Wouldn't it be great if our boyfriends or husbands dress more like that?

Wear-ability: 7 (10 being the most wearable).

Fashion Week: Vivienne Tam

Theme: eclectic romanticism, grand and luxe. This collection is not for the faint of heart.

What's Special: dominant use of embroidery, beading, and ruffles. Soft palettes in chiffon, silks juxtapose with intricate beading. Silhouettes are soft and flow with the body. Baubles in gold, soft amber accentuate the already eleborate creations. We love the white wedding gown with innocent daisy inlet and a dramatic caftan in pink with gold and silver beading.

Take away: Dress up for dinners, because luxe is back.

Wear-ability: that depends. Do you wear couture to tea? Why not?

Theme: Ethnic chic, nomad-rules and loads of Ikat influences.

What's Special: Free use of embroidery, strong colors and patterns. Capes and shawls are dominantly used, with a few sheath dresses mixed with strong colors and eye-catching prints. The show ended with a quiet, beige bridal gown cut in a mermaid silhouette - a departure from the ethnic, boho vibe that characterize this show.

Take away: Color is back!

Fashion Week: BCBG

Theme: Neutral chic, minimalism mixed with cheeky femininity.

What's Special: Minis are still in for Max Azria's BCBG. Soft fabric with lots of flyaways, heavy use of silks, sheers - the collection started with a neutral palette and moved to stronger colors at the end. Azria uses caplets and asymmetry freely, with the finale dress shown in a beautiful lace sheer gown.

Take away: The soft feminist has returned.

Fashion Week: Ports 1961

Theme: Neutral chic, nude palettes mixed with relaxed elegance. Designer Fiona Cibani delivered great American workwear with good separates, understated sexiness.

What's Special: She opened with a trench coat, slim nude pants. The show progressed to nude mixed with pops of color and featuring lovely wearable sheath dresses, shirt-dress with subtle pattern that flows with the body. The evening wear is equally stunning - flowing silhouettes that exude easy elegance. We love the showstopping finale gowns with the tattered chiffon and sparkling embroidery.

Note: Is Cibani growing big within the editorial world? Vogue and heavy hitters showed up at her show with lots of supers walking, such Behja Erichson, and lovely to see Hillary Rhoda walking again.

Take away: Grace Kelly fast forward to 90s minimalism, elegant, beautiful collection!!

You Need: Sweater Jumpsuit

Stella Mccartney has done one for years on her Fall runways, but this seaon the sweater jumpsuit really takes on Mainstreet. It could be a more general acceptance of the romper in the summer (if you can wear a all-in-one in the sweltering heat, you can wear one in wool when the weather is brisk!), or it could be that designers are really embracing the idea of comfortable clothing translating to luxury. Either way, Tucker by Target makes a fantastic fleece version that could take you from home to work in two seconds flat. Add a fabulous belt and heels and you are good to go.

You Need: Skirt in a Luxurious Fabric

Along the lines of simple elegance, designers this season are really celebrating the lady-like looks a la Mad Men. You can't go wrong with a pencil-skirt made in a sumptious fabric paired with a simple white shirt or sweater. Again, we look to the Tucker by Target line for this amazing brocade skirt in gold and navy. At less than $40, it's a little money spent for a look that will go a long way.

You Need: White Silk Blouse

You can thank Phoebe Philo of Celine for delivering some of the most amazing white silk blouses this season. Equipment, a label relaunched in Spring by Current/Elliot designer Serge Azria, brings its history of transforming men's shirt to womenswear to a whole new level by cutting shirts made in luxurious silk. We especially love the washed silk pocket shirt. If you want a cheaper alternative you can find one in Madewell, Jcrew's sister line.

You Need: Chambray Shirt

H&M makes a fabulous version for under $30. Gap, through its 1969 line, makes a tunic version that you can pair with their tailored pants or leggings. We love Chloe's approach by pairing blue chambray with tan wide-leg pants this season.

JUST IN: Lanvin H&M Collaboration

According to Women's Wear Daily report, Lanvin and its designer, Alber Ebaz, will design a capsule collection for H&M for the upcoming holiday season.

The collection will be available for online viewing starting Nov. 2, with merchandise available at H&M stores Nov. 23, according to Racked.com.

For us, there's no better way to celebrate shopping as an event while buying this season's key items and doing a little partying around town. Now that's what we call retail therapy!

You need: Camel Coat

A universally flattering color, camel is all over the runway this season. Chloe exemplified it the best with its Fall 2010 collection, with designer Hannah McGibbon sent down the runway a collection of sumptuous coats and knits that exude ease and comfort with a touch of understated elegance. We like ours in the form of a coat - the bigger the better - so we can wrap ourselves in the warmth of this amazing color while trekking through New York City's cold cold winter nights.

You need: Fur Vest

A good pair of black pants is a wardrobe basic. This season it's even essential for balancing out the luxe of big coats and fur. J.Crew makes a slimmer cut called the Minnie Pant that reminds us of Audrey Hepburn a la Funny Girl days.

NY Fashion Week: Lincoln Center's New Check-in System

September is coming. For fashionistas in our fair city that mean one thing - New York Fashion Week! While it's not news that Fashion Week has moved to Lincoln Center, what comes along with the move is a new computerized check-in system for participants.

As first reported by New York Magazine, "the system is meant not only to help keep crashers out, but mostly to help designers track who went to their shows. While people may have gone into some shows in the past with paper invitations in hand, without checking in, this season, everyone has to check in to every show using the new computerized system."

Here's the skinny (from NYMag The Cut):

Check-in method No. 1: Press credentials.
This season, press credentials come with a unique bar code and pretty photo of their owner. If you have press credentials and are RSVP'd under your name for a show, you can scan your bar code at the airport-esque kiosk, get a printout of your seat assignment, and be on your way. The photos are to prevent the credentials from getting passed around to or stolen by people who shouldn't have them. If you try to get past security at the entrance with someone else's credentials that you found on the ground or something, guards may not let you in.

Check-in method No. 2: E-mail proof of seating assignments.
Individuals RSVP'd for shows will receive seating confirmation via e-mail. These will get you past Lincoln Center security guards. The e-mail will have a bar code that attendees can scan at the kiosks to print seat assignments and get in. If, last-minute, you are not able to go to a show, you can alert the show's PR team and send a substitute with your e-mail. The bar code on the e-mail can be scanned from a smartphone or a printed piece of paper. Once your seat is scanned in, if a devious person who shouldn't have the ticket gets their hands on it and tries to scan it in, they won't be able to.

Check-in method No. 3: Talk to a PR person.
In case technology fails you, real people will be on hand to check you in. However, this season, they'll have computers instead of tedious gigantic binders full of lists. But again, once you're checked into the online system, no one else can get in under your name.

Costello Tagliapietra for Uniqlo: An Interview with The Fashionable Matilda

On the morning of May 20th, The Fashionable Matilda joined the line of fans waiting for the launch of Uniqlo’s collaboration with the New York-based design team, Costello Tagilapietra (www.costellotagliapietra.com). Uniqlo’s last Designers Invitation Project, +J with Jil Sander, offered shoppers a collection of smart, lean, well-tailored looks for men and women. Costello Tagilapietra’s collection — a line of chic dresses in a palette of urban neutrals and subtle colors — feature the soft draping and distinctive silhouettes that are their signature. From what we witnessed, the smart, stylish dresses attracted women of all ages. At an ultra-affordable price point, no dress tops $39.99. During these lean times, what more could a budget-conscious fashionista ask for?

The shopping was fast and furious, with the Uniqlo staff restocking the racks at regular intervals. The Fashionable Matilda staffers made sure we had secured our purchases before approaching Costello Tagliapietra for a quick interview. Just before we spoke to the charming, friendly design team, we spied them taking a moment to adjust a few of the dresses so they draped properly and showed well. Well-hung or not, seconds later, they were snatched off the rack!

The Fashionable Matilda: Is this the same collection for Uniqlo that's in London and Japan?

Robert Tagliapietra: Yes, it’s launched everywhere and so this is the last launch. It’s been doing really well.

FM: So, is it satisfying to do the last launch in New York?

RT: Yes, in a sense.

Jeffrey Costello: It’s our hometown.

FM: Well you’ve had so much success with the line, so I guess this is just icing on the cake. Do you think you’ll do more with Uniqlo?

JC: We’d love to.

RT: Yes, we’d love to, we’re totally open to it. I think it was such a good match.

JC: A good partnership.

FM: It sounds like you've got the right person in mind for this line — well, based on my shopping…

RT: It’s sort of like the girls who… (There’s a pause when a few fans ask for pictures.) Our dresses, although we like to think about them as day and night, most women wear them at night because it’s a little more special. We wanted to think about this as — what the girls we’re around all day, what they would wear during the day — what that Costello dress looks like for daywear, but still treat it the same way, with the same respect. We did the patterns, we wanted that same feel of our brand.

FM: It’s very distinctive -- the cuts are beautiful, and they fit very well.

RT: Thank you.

FM: And the colors too, for a practical girl...

RT: Yes, but there are moments where you'll find the Costello colors that we’ve pulled from past seasons.

FM: Was pattern something you wanted — for the universality of the line — to keep out of the collection?

RT: It was the first one (collection) so we wanted to have a clean statement.

FM: Let the cuts speak for themselves?

RT: Yes, because Uniqlo didn’t really have a dress collection in house yet, so we were defining that moment for them. We’re minimalists at heart — although we’ve been working with patterns lately, that clean statement is always a good fresh statement, and a good first statement.

FM: Well, thank you very much! And now your public is waiting for you, so thanks!

RT: Thanks, so nice to meet you!
